From the Guardian Series, first published Thursday 14th Aug 1997.
Lisa Marshall, 26, and her two children have two weeks to leave the last remaining holiday chalet on Pickmere Lake.
Her neighbours, an 84-year-old Manchester woman and a family from Oldham, have given up their fight to stay in their holiday homes.
But Lisa vowed this week: "We are not giving up."
Lisa, who lives permanently in the chalet, wants more time to find other accommodation and intends to take her fight to stay back to court.
Work has begun on turning the former Leisure Lake site into a luxury housing development.
Lisa's home stands on what will be the new village green.
Macclesfield Borough Council says Lisa can stay until six of the 12 homes are built.
But Lisa claims Pickmere Parish Council objected and the landowners have now told her she must leave on August 27.
Lisa has been offered a council house in Knutsford but fears it will not be ready before her eviction date.
A parish council spokesman said the date to move Lisa out was with the Co-operative Bank and the housing developer.
Asbestos removal on the site and vandals meant the chalets - condemned as unfit for habitation in 1952 - had to be demolished urgently.
"We have had a bad press for something we are not responsible for," the spokesman added. "We have to think about the health and safety of the whole community.
"All the parish council is doing is support Wainhomes and the bank in doing what they were legally asked to do."
