LITTLE Budworth held its Rose Fete on Saturday and it was of particular significance to the hundreds of villagers who turned up.
For it was the first Rose Fete in 15 years, made possible by the new village green - a project for which villagers themselves have been fund-raising for for several years. Parish council vice-chairman Andrew Cripps said: "We are extremely pleased with the way in which many of the residents have been involved with the creation of the green, and the way in which it has helped to foster a sense of community.
"Donations and grants, together with a number of fund-raising events and a lot of hard work, have enabled the project to be seen through to completion."
The green has been laid out with paths, seating, a small children's play area and a basketball pitch, and has been completely re-seeded with grass, wildflowers, trees and shrubs.
