Five-point cushion

BRYN Labour stormed five points clear at the top of Earlestown Snooker League courtesy of a 5-1 victory over Haydock Reading Room B.

However, second-placed Newton Social A show no sign of giving up without a fight in the race for the title. They defeated Beer Engine 4-2 after trailing 2-1 at one stage.

Third-placed St. Pats suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of North Ashton.

Ashton's star performer was Scott Wall. He defeated Andy Moorhouse in style.

Newton Social B had to settle for a share of the spoils with Viaduct.

Viaduct were indebted to a last game victory by John Seddon. Bud Milanovich provided the opposition.

Newton Social C recorded a 4-2 win against Haydock Catholic A while Haydock Reading Room A defeated Vicars by the same score line.

Reading Room had the last two winners as Mark Shiel beat Eric Haselton and Brian Southern overcame Roland Barnes.
