Limelight beckons for Solitarius

From the Guardian Series, first published Thursday 19th Aug 2004.

CREWE-based band Solitarius make their live debut at the Limelight tomorrow night.

The heavy rock quartet, pictured, join two other bands for Rafters Rock Night, upstairs at the music mecca in Hightown.

Together since the start of 2004, Solitarius are Dan Tril (vocal/rhythm guitar), Tom Barnes (lead guitar) and Glen Dickinson (bass) with stand-in drummer Rob Beech also on board.

Eight months practising and writing their own material in preparation for this maiden gig, the band is hoping to make an impact with another Limelight date, in the main concert room, on September 28.

"We're a bit nervous about it, with it being our first gig. But we're looking forward to it," said Tom.

"We'll be playing our own stuff mainly although we may throw a few covers into the set. Our style's heavy rock with a grunge feel to it.

"We've also got another gig at the Limelight next month, supporting a band from Germany in the main concert room."

The band is on the lookout for a full-time drummer. Anyone interested can e-mail tom@game-planet.co.uk

Live music kicks off at Rafters at 8.30pm, tickets are £4.
