Crowds flock to lambing weekend

From the Guardian Series, first published Thursday 10th Mar 2005.

HUNDREDS of families visited Reaseheath College at the weekend for two lambing open days.

The family events, which attract thousands of visitors every year, were a particular favourite with the town's children this year.

Youngsters were treated to the sight of hundreds of new offspring in the lambing sheds and people also had the opportunity to see the lambs being delivered by the college's agriculture students.

Families met a collection of friendly pets from the college's small animal unit, and there was also a display of small tractors and engines, and a children's quiz.

The lambing sheds will also be open this weekend from 10am to 5pm, with admission costing £3 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Children under the age of three can enter for free.

The event is not suitable for expectant mothers, according to the organisers.
