Future's bright for Liam

From the archive, first published Wednesday 8th Feb 2006.

HE'S PLAYED Gavin Arvizo in an ITV reconstruction of the Michael Jackson trial, appeared as an extra in a host of top soaps and has started his own Internet business.

But what is most remarkable is that multi-talented Liam Young has done all this by the age of 17.

Liam, who is studying media, theatre and business at Widnes & Runcorn Sixth Form College, said: "My business is called OxyUK Technologies. We provide web hosting, both free and premium and also offer website design, graphic design and image redevelopment.

"I started learning about computers when I was very young and at the age of about seven I watched one of my friends design websites. I took an instant interest and decided it was something I'd like to do."

Despite his prodigious success in the business world, Liam's first love remains acting and this is where he sees his long-term future.

He said: "I'm not wanting to throw the business out of the window as I do enjoy it, but not half as much as being on stage or when I am in front of the camera.

"My mum wanted to become an actor and my grandma was into singing, so I have had a lot of ambitions rub off on me.

"When I was only young and watching Oliver!, my mum just knew I wanted to do it.

"My favourite role was playing Gavin Arvizo - the boy who took Michael Jackson to court - on the Tonight Show with Trevor McDonald.

"I got to meet some great people and we filmed in limousines, in a massive mansion, in a private jet and in the ITV studios.

"It was such an amazing few days and getting to meet the Michael Jackson lookalike and live his life with him was a great experience."
